Ontario Power Authority

In 2007, worldSALON received a Certificate of Achievement from the Ontario Power Authority for reducing its energy consumption by more than 50% over a span of seven years.

Cool Shops Launch

In 2004, Cools Shops launched their season at worldSALON on July 7, 2004. In attendance at the news conference – the Honurable David Miller, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of the Environment, the Honorable Donna Caplan, Corey Diamond from Cool Shops and Brian Philips from worldSALON.

Solar Setup

WorldSALON has installed 3 solar panels to heat its hot water. To date, worldSALON is the only salon in North America to use solar power to heat water. In the first year worldSALON saved over $600 on its gas bill and displaced over 2000 tons of Co2 emissions.

Thank you to Toronto Hydro for their help with the financing for this project, the government of Canada for the REDI rebate and to Corey Diamond from Cool Shops for his expertise and enthusiasm.

Wind Share

worldSALON became a member of Windshare, the windpower co-operative responsible for the wind turbine on Lakeshore Blvd. near Exhibition Place. One turbine of this size generates enough power for 250 homes.

worldSALON and Greenest City

worldSALON participated in a program offered by Greenest City, designed to help small businesses understand the impact that reducing energy consumption has on the quality of the air that we breathe. Shortly thereafter, worldSALON was the proud recipient of a certificate from Greenest City for lowering its energy consumption by 20%.
