Brian Phillips has always dedicated his efforts to operating as ecologically friendly a business as possible; becoming an advocate for environmental reform before being green was remotely fashionable. worldSALON has made environmental practices fundamental to its operation and is a model for other small businesses. A member of both the Windshare Cooperative (co-owners of the Exhibition Place Wind Turbine with Toronto Hydro Energy Services) and the Toronto Environmental Alliance, Brian has received recognition for his leading-edge conservation efforts.
He was honoured with an award from Greenest City in 2000 and a Certificate of Achievement from the Ontario Power Authority in 2007 for reducing worldSALON’s energy consumption by more than 50% over a span of seven years. worldSALON also has the distinction of being the first Salon in Canada, and possibly North America, to use solar thermal technology to heat its water. In 2010, Brian was awarded the Green Circle Award for Environmental Stewardship for his continual leadership of and involvement in cutting-edge environmental initiatives within the salon industry.
Our goal with every choice we offer is twofold; to cherish and enhance the body and the spirit, to protect and sustain our society and our planet.
