BRIAN PHILLIPS
Brian Phillips, founder of WORLD Hair and Skin and owner
of worldSALON in Toronto, has been a pioneer in clean beauty and
sustainable business for over three decades. After a severe reaction
to toxic salon products, he launched worldPRODUCTS in 2001, rebranded
in 2015 as WORLD Hair and Skin—plant-based, fragrance-free,
multipurpose care now sold across North America. A celebrated
stylist, Phillips has worked with global icons and fashion campaigns
while championing eco-leadership, earning awards from Canada's
Environmental Defence, Green Circle Salons, Ontario Power Authority
and NOW Magazine. Beyond the salon, he’s a writer, avid runner, and
dedicated advocate for healthier beauty.

Why would we care about chemical exposure?
While not all chemical compounds are harmful, preservatives such as
parabens (used to extend product shelf life) have been linked
with interfering with hormone function, often mimicking estrogen (1) and
can complicate male reproductive function (2). Links to DNA
damage and advanced skin aging have also been indicated with exposure
to parabens (3) . Thats just one
commonly used chemical.
Its not rocket science that multiple products would contain a greater volume of different chemicals. Using one product for multiple functions becomes a simple solution to reducing
